One of our school goals at Escuela Collingwood this year is to increase students’ oral language proficiency in Spanish. One strategy we are working on to support this goal is practicing Spanish dialogues which we are calling “Hablapalabra”. This literally translates as “Speak Word” and is a play on “Abracadabra”. Below you will find links to short Spanish dialogues which families are encouraged to practice at home with their children. Routine practice of these dialogues will help students be more successful in a variety of real life interactions in Spanish.
Below is a table with some other synonyms for the words in the dialogues, so that students could practice with “Buenos Días” instead of “Hola” for example. Dialogues could also be extended by asking “¿Como se llama ella? “ “What is her name?” to develop familiarity with different verb tenses. A new dialogue will be added to the table every two weeks.
