Behaviour Expectations on the Bus

Some of our students ride the bus to and from school. This can be a challenging time depending on how long they have to spend on the bus each way; however, the safety of students and bus drivers is essential. The four aspects of respect apply to student behaviour while riding the bus. If a child causes a risk to him/herself or others, they receive an official misconduct. This is a form with four copies, one to go home to the parents, one to go to the bus driver, one that goes into the school files and one that is forwarded to First Student Canada for their records. Bus Safety is a serious issue that warrants close supervision and the consequences are strict. Bus misconducts will always be sent home to parents. Depending on the severity of the misconduct, students may lose busing privileges for a period of time.

Bus Rules

  • Children are only allowed on their registered bus. Other buses are not to be accessed to accommodate play dates, birthday parties, etc.
  • Use polite language – you are not alone on the bus.
  • Pick up after yourself.
  • Keep the noise level down – the louder you talk, the louder everyone else talks.
  • The front seats are for younger students.
  • Let anyone sit beside you unless seats are assigned by the bus driver.
  • Keep the aisles clear – backpacks should sit directly beside you or on the floor.
  • Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself.
