Message from Principal – Eve Moreau
Thank you to the many parents and guardians who attended our School Council and Parent Association Annual General Meeting this week. It is so encouraging to see such strong participation and a shared commitment to our school community; it truly enriches the learning experiences of our students at Escuela Collingwood.
Professional Learning Day | Monday, October 19
A reminder that Monday, October 19, is a non-instructional day. Our teachers will participate in a full day of collaborative professional learning alongside colleagues from four Spanish bilingual schools: Collingwood, Dalhousie, W. O. Mitchell, and Senator Patrick Burns.
Together, teachers will deepen their understanding of Spanish language acquisition pedagogy, with a focus on intentional instructional design that strengthens students' oral language development and literacy outcomes. The afternoon will be dedicated to exploring the new CBE Student Well-Being Framework, considering how we can foster supportive learning environments that strengthen students' sense of belonging, regulation, and resilience. This collaboration reflects our commitment to continuous professional growth and to ensuring that our students benefit from research-informed, responsive teaching practices.
Alberta Education Literacy and Numeracy Screening Results
On Monday, October 26, 2026, families will receive their child's Alberta Education Literacy and Numeracy Screening results. These assessments provide teachers with valuable information about students' developing literacy and numeracy skills. Alongside classroom observations, ongoing assessments, and student work, screening results help teachers identify individual strengths, recognize areas requiring additional support, and plan responsive instruction. By examining this data, teachers can make informed decisions about instructional strategies, targeted interventions, and opportunities for enrichment. These assessments represent one important source of information within a broader picture of each child's learning and growth.
Alberta Referendum | Voting Site
Finally, Escuela Collingwood will serve as a designated voting location for Alberta's referendum on Monday, October 19. We appreciate our community's cooperation as voters access the school throughout the day.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

RECURRING MESSAGES
Bus Transportation Reminder
If an emergency arises and you need to change plans for your child riding the bus or being picked up at the end of the day, we request that parents call the school before 2:00 PM on Monday through Thursday and before 11:30 AM on Fridays. If your plans change after that time, please meet your child at the bus and notify the driver that you are taking your child with you. Often, we get last-minute calls, and we are unable to locate the child, or the bus is loaded and pulling away.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us ensure a safe and smooth dismissal for all students.
General busing information can be found on our website here.
Student Lost & Found
Please check our student lost and found regularly. All unclaimed items will be collected and donated on the first school day of every month.
Traffic Safety
For the safety of all our students and families, we ask that everyone respect the law in the school zone, this means no jaywalking, not doing U-turns and respecting the speed limit.
If families witness poor driver and pedestrian behavior, please complete a police service report: https://www.calgary.ca/cps/traffic/traffic-reporting.html
