Message from Principal – Eve Moreau

As we approach the end of October, we have several important updates and events to share. On October 26, Lifetouch will take class photos and retakes throughout the day.  Teachers will also be sending home the Alberta Education Literacy and Numeracy Screening results, which will provide families with a snapshot of your child's learning and help teachers plan responsive instruction.

We are also looking forward to our Halloween Parade on Friday, October 30, when students will have an opportunity to showcase their creativity and celebrate together. Please review the costume guidelines below to help ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Buen fin de semana.
Eve

Halloween Parade – Friday, October 30, 2026

We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween at Escuela Collingwood on Friday, October 30, with a school-wide costume parade! Students will have an opportunity to showcase their creative costumes and enjoy the festive spirit of the day alongside their classmates.

As families prepare costumes, we ask that you help us ensure our celebration remains safe and respectful of our diverse school community. Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Cultural sensitivity: Costumes should be respectful of all cultures, identities, and traditions. Please avoid costumes that appropriate cultural or sacred clothing, symbols, or practices.
  • Non-violent and age-appropriate: Costumes should not include weapons, violent imagery, blood, gore, or frightening elements.
  • No masks: Students must keep their faces visible throughout the school day for safety and identification purposes.
  • No candy distribution: Students are asked not to bring candy or treats to distribute to classmates.

We look forward to seeing the creativity and excitement of our students as we come together for this fun school tradition.

Art Cards for Kids – Fundraiser

It is that time of year again to announce that our much-anticipated fundraiser, Art Cards for Kids, will be taking place once again for the month of November.  Over the next few weeks, all students will begin creating one-of-a-kind art pieces in their classrooms that will be turned into greeting cards which families may choose to purchase.  All proceeds from this fundraiser will be put directly towards our Residencies for this school year.  Please note that we expect sample cards and ordering details to be available shortly after the Fall Break, so keep an eye out for further announcements, around that time.

We are looking forward to seeing the creativity unfold at Collingwood!

RECURRING MESSAGES

Clothing Donations

We appreciate receiving all donations.  We are especially in need of new underwear for boys and girls in Grades K – 2.

Bus Transportation Reminder

If an emergency arises and you need to change plans for your child riding the bus or being picked up at the end of the day, we request that parents call the school before 2:00 PM on Monday through Thursday and before 11:30 AM on Fridays. If your plans change after that time, please meet your child at the bus and notify the driver that you are taking your child with you. Often, we get last-minute calls, and we are unable to locate the child, or the bus is loaded and pulling away.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us ensure a safe and smooth dismissal for all students.

General busing information can be found on our website here.

Student Lost & Found

Please check our student lost and found regularly. All unclaimed items will be collected and donated on the first school day of every month.

Traffic Safety

For the safety of all our students and families, we ask that everyone respect the law in the school zone, this means no jaywalking, not doing U-turns and respecting the speed limit.

If families witness poor driver and pedestrian behavior, please complete a police service report: https://www.calgary.ca/cps/traffic/traffic-reporting.html
