Staffing Update
Rhonda McCrea, who supports the school in the main office, will be retiring from the CBE at the end of December. Rhonda has supported the community at Collingwood for several years in kindergarten, in the lunch room and in the main office and she we be greatly missed. We wish Rhonda well in her retirement!
Conferences, Book Fair and Teacher Potluck
Thank you to all of the families who attended conferences, supported the book fair and volunteered for the book fair and the poinsettia sales. Thank you also for the delicious dishes for the teacher potluck!
Winter Concerts
This year, our Winter Concerts will take place on Thursday, December 11 at 8:30AM and at 1:00PM. They will feature the grade 3 and grade 6 students. Parents are welcome to attend either concert, as all students in grade 3 and 6 will be performing at both concerts.
Lost and Found
All lost and found items will be donated to charity on Tuesday, December 2.
Outdoor Skating
All students grade K-6 will be going skating at the outdoor rinks at Triwood Community Centre between Dec 15th and 19th. We will need many parent volunteers to make this activity possible. A sign-up genius will be sent home later this week. This activity is weather dependent, so if it is too warm or too cold, the activity will be cancelled. We have booked the “Skate Shack”, which is a large trailer with skates and helmets for students to use. Students are welcome to bring their own skates and CSA approved helmets. No hockey sticks. All students are invited to participate in this activity even if they have never skated before. We will have some chairs available on the ice for students to push around, and the older students and parent volunteers will help the new skaters. Please communicate with your child’s teacher if you have a wagon they can borrow to help transport skates and helmets to and from the rink. Please also make sure your child knows their shoe size so it is faster to distribute skates from the Skate Shack.
Fun Lunch
As previously advertised, our next Fun Lunch for students in Grades 1-6 will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025. This Fun Lunch will be Boston Pizza + Booster Juice!
- Sign up for Fun Lunches on the Healthy Hunger Website (an account is required).
- Please review the Healthy Hunger Set Up Instructions.
Order Deadline
The deadline to order a Fun Lunch or change/cancel an order is always the Saturday before the Fun Lunch date. For this month, the order deadline is Saturday, December 6, 2025, at midnight. After this time, there is no way to add/change an order.
Volunteer Sign-Up
In order for Fun Lunches to be a success, we rely on volunteers to help organize and distribute the meals. Please note that you can now sign-up to volunteer for Fun Lunches from December to January. We will open up volunteer opportunities for February - May in the New Year. If you have a valid police clearance check, please consider signing up to help using this link:
In the event that your sign-up needs to be cancelled, please provide as much notice as possible as we require a minimum number of volunteers to distribute lunches promptly and will need to replace your position with a new volunteer.
Student Absence on Fun Lunch Days
If your child is absent from school, on Fun Lunch day, and you are planning to come pick up their Fun Lunch, please send an email to collingwood@cbe.ab.ca with instructions on pickup of the lunch. Note the following restrictions:
- The instructions must be received prior to 10:30 a.m. on the day of the Fun Lunch. Fun Lunches are organized and distributed between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
- Any unclaimed lunch orders (due to student absence), without directions received by 10:30 a.m., will be donated by the Parent Association to the staff room.
- Pickup time for Fun Lunches for absent students will be 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at the school. This will allow our parent volunteers time to find and set aside the correct order.

School Zone Safety
A friendly reminder to our Collingwood parents, to please slow down and take extra precautions when dropping off students in the morning. We understand it is a high traffic area, but please arrive at school early and use the designated student drop off zone.
If you need to park your vehicle on the opposite side of school, please cross the road with your child at the marked crosswalk. We want to ensure that everyone stays safe.
If you have are concerned about school zone safety, you may choose to fill in a traffic- service request using this Calgary Police Service link: Traffic Service Requests
