Painting at Collingwood School

Painting has begun on our grade 1, 2 and 5 classrooms. We are very fortunate to have these classes painted and are excited for this update to our school. While classrooms are being painted, one class at a time will be working for a few days in Rm 17. The painters will be working throughout the school day, in the evenings and on weekends to complete the job. They will be using a water based paint that contains no lead or mercury and no volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). If you have any questions about this project please contact school admin.

Skating at Triwood Community Centre

Safety in the School Zone

For the safety of all of our students and families, we ask that everyone respect the law in the school zone, this means not jaywalking, not doing u-turns and respecting the speed limit. If families witness poor driver and pedestrian behavior, please complete a Calgary Police Traffic Service Request. https://www.coplogic.ca/dors/en/filing/submitreport?dynparam=1730569607856#prefilingQuestionsAnchor1

Dressing for the Weather

Please make sure that your child has the appropriate clothing for recess, lunch break, and / or community walks. The children go outside as long as the weather is warmer than -20 degrees.

Polar Bear Club

Even on days where the weather is colder than -20, those students who would like to will have the opportunity to bundle up warm and run around for a few minutes outside.

Open House Jan 9, 2025

Please invite your neighbours and friends to join us for our information night and Open House on Thursday, January 9, 2025 to learn more about our Spanish Bilingual Program and the opportunities for your student at our school.

Our doors will open at 6:00 pm with a presentation by before and after school programs followed by our Open House focused on Kindergarten and Grade 1 starting at 6:30 pm which will include information on our Lottery process.

Registration for the 2025/26 school year begins in mid January 2025. Children can start Kindergarten in the fall of 2025 if they turn 5 years old on or before December 31, 2025. Children must start school if they are six years of age or older on September 1.

There is no requirement for students to have prior exposure to Spanish to begin in Kindergarten or in September of their Grade 1 year. Parents are not expected to understand Spanish either.

Please contact our office staff by phone at 403-777-6180 or by email at collingwood@cbe.ab.ca if you have questions about our Open House.

Commercial Messages

From time to time, the school sends out messages with commercial content, such as fun lunch notices, ordering pictures or special fundraisers. For example, the Parent Association is hosting an exciting new apple fundraiser this fall. In order to receive these emails families need to subscribe to receive commercial messages from the school.
