Message from Interim Principal – Rick Petrowitsch
We had a wonderful week with a variety of activities taking place. The week started with Collingwood's own “World Cup” soccer fun tournament, organized by Sr. Vargas. There have been many students involved in playing soccer and also picking their favorite teams to win the actual World Cup. We experienced an amazing band concert provided by a high school touring band from Port Alberni, British Columbia. The students really enjoyed the music as well as learning about all the different instruments that made up the band. We had a fantastic Volunteer Appreciation event on Thursday. Volunteers were treated to a variety of food, which was provided by the staff, and many presentations were put on by the students. It was a terrific event. Thank you again to our many amazing volunteers.
I have received several inquiries regarding the number of classes per grade for next year. You may have heard the recent announcement from the Alberta Government regarding an infusion of money to school boards to address class sizes. We have not yet heard how this will impact Collingwood School. We are in a bit of a holding pattern, awaiting more information. We want to make sure the new Principal is involved in the decision-making for next year. Once we have a definitive answer, we will make sure to communicate any new information regarding organizing for the next school year. Thank you for your patience.
Next week, for the first time, we will experience Provincial Achievement Exams for the grade 6 students. This is a new undertaking for the teachers, and there is a lot of work and preparation that goes into the writing of the PAT exams. We will have minimal interruptions during the exam times with no indoor bells and no announcements.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend with a very nice forecast

- If families witness poor driver and pedestrian behavior, please complete a police service report: https://www.calgary.ca/cps/traffic/traffic-reporting.html
