Attendance and Lates
We would like to encourage parents to get their children to school before the 8:00 am bell. Most days we have lineups outside the front door. Last Friday we had over 40 students late. It has been brought to our attention that some parents are waiting for the morning buses to leave and then driving up to the front door and waiting for the bell. That means that your child is marked late, they are getting to class late and it is causing the office staff to do a great deal of extra work.
Makie sure if your child is late or absent, please call the attendance line so we don’t have to make a call out to parents. If you forget we will call out as soon as possible. Again, with the extra work of lates and calling into classroom, the call out can be later than we would like. Thank you for your help and support.
Recess and Rough Play
Recently we have had several injuries with rough play at recess. We want students to have fun and “blow off some steam” however when it gets physical, we must ensure the safety of all the students. This past week we have had several issues regarding hockey. Students are taking the game too seriously; it is not the NHL. We have had students cross checking, high sticking and body checking. We do not have referees, and the supervisors can’t always be there. Please talk to your child if they are playing hockey and remind them this should be fun and no one should be hurt. If students bring their own hockey stick from home, it is only to be used outside and not in school. We don’t want to stop playing hockey, however if the rough play continues we have need to take a break. Thank you for your support.
Please remember if your child is presently enroll at Collingwood school you do not have to register again.

School Zones Safety
A friendly reminder to our Collingwood parents, to please slow down and take extra precautions when dropping off students in the morning. We understand it is a high traffic area, but please try to use the designated student drop off zone.
If you need to park your vehicle on the opposite side of school, please cross the road with your child at the marked crosswalk. We want to ensure that everyone stays safe.
If you have are concerned about school zone safety, you may choose to fill in a traffic- service request using this Calgary Police Service link: Traffic Service Requests
