Registrations submitted prior to the lottery deadline of 12:00 PM (noon) on Feb. 11, 2025, will be included in the lottery draws.

Children may start Kindergarten in the fall of 2025 if they turn 5 years old on or before December 31, 2025. Children must start school if they are six years of age or older on September 1.

There is no requirement for students to have prior exposure to Spanish to begin in Kindergarten or in September of their Grade 1 year. Parents are also not expected to speak Spanish.

Grade 1 Registration

All current Collingwood Kindergarten families, who live in our catchment area, and where at last one parent is not of the Catholic faith, are automatically registered in our grade one program. These families do not need to submit a new grade 1 registration form.

Important Notification from Southland Transportation

We have been informed by Southland Transportation, that hockey sticks and large goalie pads are not allowed on the school bus. Any sports equipment must fit in the students’ backpacks. The school has hockey sticks available in the shed outside for students to use.

Spanish Immersion Day Jan 17

To further enhance student appreciation of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture, Collingwood School is hosting several Spanish Immersion Days throughout the school year. Students are challenged to speak only in Spanish on the immersion days. Each Immersion Day has a specific theme and this Friday, the theme is “Gastronomía”. Students will be learning and exploring different aspects of this theme.

CSPA | Casino Volunteers Needed Monday February 10, 2025  and Tuesday February 11, 2025

Collingwood School is volunteering at the ACE Casino Airport (40 Aero Crescent NE) on Monday February 10 and Tuesday February 11, 2025.

This is our school’s largest fundraiser with money raised going to residencies, school resources and much more.

To make this casino possible, we need volunteers!

You do not need volunteer clearance to volunteer.  Training is provided at the beginning of the shift.  No experience necessary.  That means all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends (18+) are eligible to volunteer

There are three shifts available each day:

  • Day Shift - 11am - 7pm

Indigenous Dance Performance

We are excited to welcome Indigenous Performer, Jackie Soppit of Wandering Spirit Dance to Collingwood for an assembly sharing a variety of indigenous dances for our younger students in the morning on January 22. She has performed across Canada as well as in Cuba and other Latin American countries. We are grateful to the Collingwood Parent Association for their financial support for this performance.

Dressing for the Weather

Please make sure that your child has the appropriate clothing for recess, lunch break, and / or community walks. The children go outside as long as the weather is warmer than -20 degrees.

Polar Bear Club

Even on days where the weather is colder than -20, those students who would like to will have the opportunity to bundle up warm and run around for a few minutes outside.

Commercial Messages

From time to time, the school sends out messages with commercial content, such as fun lunch notices, ordering pictures or special fundraisers. For example, the Parent Association is hosting an exciting new apple fundraiser this fall. In order to receive these emails families need to subscribe to receive commercial messages from the school.
