Bike-A-Thon Fundraiser/ Principal for a Day

The Collingwood School Parent Association is pleased to thank all those who participated in the Escuela Collingwood School Bike-a-thon for their tremendous enthusiasm. We exceeded our goal of $6,000, raising $9,150!  All of the funds raised will go towards refurbishing our bike racks and improving the area surrounding the racks so that it is easier (and more secure) for students to ride their bikes to school.  We value physical activity and hope that our children will learn about the positive impact active transportation has on our environment. Congratulations to Sr. Pelayo’s class for being the top fundraisers in the school, they enjoyed a pizza party last week. Congratulations also to Matt Bengoechea for being the top fundraiser! As a result of Matt’s efforts, he will be Principal for a day at Collingwood on Wednesday, June 26. Stay tuned for a message from Principal Matt!

Grade 5 Farewell

There was a wonderful, standing room only turnout for our grade 5 farewell last Friday. It was excellent to see so many family and friends out to support our grade fives. Thank you in particular to Sra. Heath, Sra. Abdulghani, Sr. Vargas, Sr. Portero, Sra. Pat, our grade 5 students, the many parent volunteers as well as the Collingwood students and alumni who performed for the event with their band Mud Wall

Year Books

The yearbooks were delivered to the school on Friday. Not all classes had the opportunity to distribute the books. Remaining books will be distributed on Monday.

School Spirit Wear

New Collingwood School spirit wear was distributed on Friday. Please communicate with your child’s teacher if you are missing items.

June is Pride Month

The Calgary Board of Education strives to ensure that all our schools are safe and caring places for all students and staff. As a public school system, we welcome and celebrate students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and beliefs.

At Collingwood School, we have honoured and recognized our unique school community throughout the school year with events such as Orange Shirt Day, Black History Month, Pink Shirt Day, Asian Heritage Month and Hats on for Mental Health. June is Pride Month, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.

The websites below have information related to the history of Pride Month and Pride activities in Calgary

CBE Dates of Significance Calendar

In the spirit of building a culture of appreciation and inclusion, where students and staff can see themselves valued, respected and celebrated, the CBE has compiled a Dates of Significance Calendar. As we work to make Collingwood School more welcoming and inclusive, it is our hope that this calendar will help build awareness in our school community.

School Fees

It is not too late to pay your school fees.  We particularly need our grade 5 families to pay for canoeing to cover the cost. Please take a moment to log on to your MyCBE account to check if you have outstanding school fees.

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found is overflowing with student items. Please ensure your child checks out the lost and found as all items will be donated on June 28.

Beekeeper Visits

Check out the Collingwood Beehive Blog to see what our bees are doing.
