Collingwood Parent Diversity Committee

The Collingwood Parent Council is establishing a Parent Diversity Subcommittee to explore ways that Collingwood School can be more welcoming and inclusive for students and families. This subcommittee will brainstorm ideas and plan activities for students and families that will celebrate our diversity. This idea is just starting out so nothing has been established as yet in terms of meetings or expectations. If you are interested in learning more about or becoming a part of this subcommittee please reply to this email. We will reach out to everyone who responds and set up an evening Teams meeting to start the conversation.

Thank you to the many families who donated items for a teacher potluck during conferences. We appreciate your generosity. Don’t forget to stop by the school to pick up your dishes.

Conferences and Book Fair

It was excellent to see our Collingwood Families during the recent Parent Teacher Conferences. Your support for the book fair will also help provide many new books for the Collingwood Library for all the students to enjoy. Thank you to all of the parents who were able to volunteer to help run the book fair.

Congratulations to Rhys in grade 3 for winning the book fair draw. Rhys won $25 worth of books as well as $25 worth of books for his class.

Poinsettia Pick Up

Thank you to the Collingwood community for your enthusiastic support of the CSPA Holiday Poinsettia Fundraiser! Plants that were ordered by the deadline can be picked up on Thursday, November 30th, between 2:00 and 6:00 pm, from the room to the right of the Escuela Collingwood entrance. !Gracias por su apoyo y Felices fiestas!

Abejas Bilingües Honey

Thank you also for your purchases of Collingwood Abejas Bilingües Honey. All funds raised will go to support our beehive. Additional jars may be purchased for $10 cash or cheque payable to Collingwood Parent Association during the poinsettia pick up on Nov 30.

Art Card Orders Extended until Sunday, Nov. 26 at Midnight

Art Kids by Kids orders have been extended until Sunday, November 26 at midnight. Ordering details are on the sample card your child brought home. This fundraiser helps support environmental projects at Collingwood School.

Skate Shack

Dec. 18 – 22 all Collingwood students will participate in outdoor skating at Triwood Community Centre. If the weather and ice don’t cooperate we do have the option to use the indoor ice as well. Please set aside these dates in your calendar as we will need many volunteers to help children with skates and on the ice. We have booked the Skate Shack which is a trailer filled with skates and helmets which students can use for this outdoor skating experience. Note that there is a slot first thing in the morning for shovelling. If it hasn’t snowed there will be no need to shovel the ice. An email will be sent out the evening before about the shovelling need. Please sign up on the sign-up genius below.

Donate Clothing and Games

We are in need of gently used complete games. Some suggestions: chess, Blokus, Connect Four, Guess Who, Battleship, Uno, bunko math game, Parking Boggle, Dominoes, Jenga.

We are also in need of gently used clothing. If you have fleecy/stretchy pants with elastic waistband in all sizes.
