New Principal Update
Dear Collingwood Families,
I have been informed that the CBE will hire an Acting Principal for Collingwood School for the remainder of the school year, after the Winter Break. The Collingwood School Principal position will be posted in the Spring. The school will keep the parent community informed when a new principal has been chosen for the school and ways to give input into what the new principal should know about what the school community values.
CSPA Poinsettias Fundraiser! Order by Nov 12
The Collingwood School Parents’ Association is pleased to partner with Growing Smiles again this year for our Poinsettias Fundraiser!
Poinsettias and other winter plants are now available to order on our fundraising website. Bring the beautiful colours of the nochebuena to your home this holiday season!
Last year we sold 197 plants; help us reach our goal of selling 280 plants this year!
All funds raised will go directly to Escuela Collingwood to provide each teacher with a budget of $100 per class for specialized art projects, incentives, decorations, or class books. The funds we raise are important for providing additional resources that will enrich and enhance our kids’ learning.
Sharing this fundraiser with your nearby friends and family. Everything is done online, so you won’t have to deal with any of the hassles of collecting money or keeping records. All you need to do is share a link via email or text message.
Order by November 12, 2025. Pick-up at Collingwood School will be on Thursday, November 27.
Fun Lunch
Our next Fun Lunch for students in Grades 1-6 will be Thursday, November 20, 2025! This Fun Lunch will be Mucho Burrito + Booster Juice!
- Sign up for Fun Lunches on the HealthyHunger (account required).
- Please review the HealthyHunger Set Up Instructions.
Order Deadline
The deadline to order a Fun Lunch or change/cancel an order is always the Saturday prior to the Fun Lunch date. For this month, the order deadline is Saturday, November 15, 2025, at midnight. After this time, there is unfortunately no way to add/change an order.
Volunteer Sign-Up
In order for Fun Lunches to be a success, we rely on volunteers to help organize and distribute the meals. Please note that you can now sign-up to volunteer for Fun Lunches from November to January. We will open up volunteer opportunities for February - May in the New Year. If you have a valid police clearance check, please consider signing up to help using this link:
In the event that your sign-up needs to be cancelled, please provide as much notice as possible as we require a minimum number of volunteers to distribute lunches promptly and will need to replace your position with a new volunteer.
Student Absence on Fun Lunch Days
If your child is absent from school, on Fun Lunch day, and you are planning to come pick up their Fun Lunch, please send an email to collingwood@cbe.ab.ca with instructions on pickup of the lunch. Note the following restrictions:
- The instructions must be received prior to 10:30 a.m. on the day of the Fun Lunch. Fun Lunches are organized and distributed between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
- Any unclaimed lunch orders (due to student absence), without directions received by 10:30 a.m., will be donated by the Parent Association to the staff room.
- Pickup time for Fun Lunches for absent students will be 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at the school. This will allow our parent volunteers time to find and set aside the correct order.
Grade 6 & Grade 1 Vaccinations
Alberta Health Services, school vaccination team has rescheduled the school vaccination program at Collingwood School for:
- November 17, 2025- Grade 6 (dose #1) and Grade 1 students. This is a small number of grade 1 students that received consent forms (if you did not receive a consent form - your child is up to date with vaccines).
- May 4, 2026 - Grade 6 (dose #2)
School Council AGM
We have decided to change the date of the Collingwood School Council AGM. It will now be held in person and online on November 26 at 6:30 PM. Click here to join the meeting. All families are welcome to attend this meeting.
Class Picture Day and Re-Take Day
We will be having our class group pictures as well as retakes on Wednesday November 26, 2025
If you need a re-take of your student's individual picture, please email the class teacher to arrange it. It would also be helpful to include a note for the student to give to the photographer with any specific instructions.
Students who were absent on picture day, September 17, 2025, will have their pictures taken on this date.
We are looking for 4 volunteers, with current cleared volunteer status, to help out on this date. If you are able to assist please sign up below:

Parent Teacher Conferences
Our next Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on November 27 and 28. These conferences are an opportunity for the teacher to share information about your child’s learning progress so far this school year. Because of the days missed due to the labour action, the teachers may not be able to provide as comprehensive a report on your child’s learning as they would have done in previous years. A link will be provided next week for conference sign up which will open on November 22.
Teacher Appreciation Potluck
The Collingwood Parent Association is coordinating a potluck for teachers during the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences. If your family is able to contribute a dish for the teachers on November 27 please sign up at the link below:

Scholastic Book Fair
Our fabulous librarian Sra. Nino is coordinating a Scholastic Book Fair during the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences. Proceeds from the book fair help to provide additional books for our school library. Please be sure to check out the book fair in the library during conferences.
Collingwood Honey Now Available
Honey from our Collingwood Hive will be available for purchase (cash only) during the Scholastic Book Fair in the library on November 27 and 28. All proceeds support the cost of our beekeeping program with Alveole. In the spring, summer and fall, Alveole sends a beekeeper to Collingwood School to maintain our beehive. Students have the opportunity to watch and ask questions as the beekeeper works with the bees. On November 18 and 19 the beekeeper will also be offering workshops for some of our grade 1 and grade 3 classes on beeswax candles and the honey extraction process. All of the activities related to our beehive are documented on the Alveole website. Come check out our bees! Alvéole | MyHive
Art Cards by Kids
Our students have been busy making some stunning artwork for this year’s Art Cards. Families will receive information about art card ordering in the next two weeks and there will be a tight turn-around to order so the cards arrive before the winter break.
