Principal Message
Dear Collingwood Families,
I am writing to inform you that I will be retiring from the Calgary Board of Education at the end of December 2025. It has been a privilege and an honor to work with the incredible students, families and staff at Collingwood School. The staff is dedicated, hard-working and passionate about doing what is best for children. The Latino warmth and spirit is evident throughout the school and makes it a fun place to work and learn. The students are kind and bright and fill the school with energy and excitement. The parent community is supportive and amazing. I have really enjoyed my time at Collingwood. I am looking forward to taking on some new adventures in my retirement and will always keep a warm spot in my heart for Collingwood School. I will keep the community informed when a new principal has been chosen for the school and ways to give input into what the new principal should know about what the community values at Collingwood School.
Remembrance Day
We will be having a Remembrance Day Event in the morning on Friday, November 7th at 8:30 am. The grade 4 classes will be sharing during this assembly. Because of the limited time to practice, their sharing will not be as extensive as in previous years, but they will play an important role in leading this symbolic and meaningful assembly. All parents and guests are welcome to attend our Remembrance Day assembly.
Color Guard for Remembrance Day Assembly
Students who participate in any of the Scouts or Guides programs are invited to wear their uniforms to school on Friday, November 7th to play a special role in our Remembrance Day Assembly.
Fun Lunch
Our next Fun Lunch for students in Grades 1-6 will be Thursday, November 20, 2025! This Fun Lunch will be Mucho Burrito + Booster Juice!
- Sign up for Fun Lunches on the HealthyHunger (account required).
- Please review the HealthyHunger Set Up Instructions.
Order Deadline
The deadline to order a Fun Lunch or change/cancel an order is always the Saturday prior to the Fun Lunch date. For this month, the order deadline is Saturday, November 15, 2025, at midnight. After this time, there is unfortunately no way to add/change an order.
Volunteer Sign-Up
In order for Fun Lunches to be a success, we rely on volunteers to help organize and distribute the meals. Please note that you can now sign-up to volunteer for Fun Lunches from November to January. We will open up volunteer opportunities for February - May in the New Year. If you have a valid police clearance check, please consider signing up to help using this link:
- Fun Lunch Volunteer Sign-Up, 2025-26
In the event that your sign-up needs to be cancelled, please provide as much notice as possible as we require a minimum number of volunteers to distribute lunches promptly and will need to replace your position with a new volunteer.
Student Absence on Fun Lunch Days
If your child is absent from school, on Fun Lunch day, and you are planning to come pick up their Fun Lunch, please send an email to collingwood@cbe.ab.ca with instructions on pickup of the lunch. Note the following restrictions:
- The instructions must be received prior to 10:30 a.m. on the day of the Fun Lunch. Fun Lunches are organized and distributed between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
- Any unclaimed lunch orders (due to student absence), without directions received by 10:30 a.m., will be donated by the Parent Association to the staff room.
- Pickup time for Fun Lunches for absent students will be 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at the school. This will allow our parent volunteers time to find and set aside the correct order.
School Council AGM
All families are invited to attend our upcoming School Council Annual General Meeting at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, November 19th. The meeting will be held in-person at the school and online on Microsoft Teams: Click here to join the meeting
Class Picture Day and Re-Take Day
We will be having our class group pictures as well as retakes on Wednesday November 26, 2025
If you need a re-take of your student's individual picture, please email the class teacher to arrange it. It would also be helpful to include a note for the student to give to the photographer with any specific instructions.
Students who were absent on picture day, September 17, 2025, will have their pictures taken on this date.
We are looking for 4 volunteers, with current cleared volunteer status, to help out on this date. If you are able to assist please sign up below:
