Personal Mobile Devices
This is a link to our website regarding students K-9 and their personal use of mobile devices.
https://collingwood.cbe.ab.ca/student-personal-mobile-devices-k-9
We would like to remind parents that Smart Watches are considered personal mobile devices when connected to a cell phone that has not been powered off. During a recent lockdown, a few students were calling their parents on their smartwatches. This is absolutely prohibited during a lockdown. If your child has a smartwatch, please remind them to make sure their cell phone is powered off, not just silenced.
Buses at the End of the School Day.
If you have a change of plans for your child riding the bus or being picked up at the end of the day, we request that parents call the school before 2:15 on Monday through Thursday and before 11:45 on Fridays. If your plans change after that time, please meet your child at the bus and notify the driver that you are taking your child with you. Often, we get last-minute calls, and we are unable to locate the child, or the bus is loaded and pulling away. The CBE buses have a second route that they must get to by a deadline. We cannot hold the buses. When possible, please make sure that your child, their teacher, and the office are aware of any changes. Thank you.
Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day originated in Halifax, Nova Scotia, back in 2008, with two high school-aged students who saw a need to be kind while another student was not being treated with kindness and respect. That one act of compassion quickly spread beyond the school.
In 2008, British Columbia’s provincial government proclaimed a provincial Anti-Bullying Day in February, and over time, the idea of wearing pink to stand against bullying spread throughout Canada and then internationally. Today, Pink Shirt Day is observed annually in Canada on the last Wednesday of February.
Pink Shirt Day is now a national and global movement that encourages people of all ages to:
- Wear pink as a visible symbol of support for kindness, inclusion, and respect for others.
- Raise awareness and start conversations about why bullying is harmful and what we can do to prevent it.
- Raise funds for programs that help children and youth build healthy self-esteem, resilience, and safe environments.
We recognize Pink Shirt Day every year to honour a grassroots act of kindness and to reaffirm our shared commitment to reducing bullying and creating welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful spaces for everyone.
Inclusion is something that we promote every day at Collingwood School. Please don’t feel that you need to buy a special pink shirt. If your child already has a pink shirt, encourage them to wear it on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026.

School Zones Safety
A friendly reminder to our Collingwood parents, to please slow down and take extra precautions when dropping off students in the morning. We understand it is a high traffic area, but please try to use the designated student drop off zone.
If you need to park your vehicle on the opposite side of school, please cross the road with your child at the marked crosswalk. We want to ensure that everyone stays safe.
If you are concerned about school zone safety, you may choose to fill in a traffic- service request using this Calgary Police Service link: Traffic Service Requests
School Field Trips Fees Payable Online
School Field Trip Fees are uploaded online. To view and pay your fees, please log into your MyCBE Account. Please use this Student Fee Guide to pay the fees online.
If a waiver is not obtained and school fees are unpaid, these costs ultimately come out of the school budget.
