Multicultural Day Dec 14

Sra. McCruden has been working with a Student Advisory Council to discuss student ideas of ways to improve our school. One idea the students came up with was a Multicultural Day. Our students celebrate many different traditions and this will be a day where they are invited to wear traditional outfits from their culture or heritage. This could be red for Chinese New Year, Santa hats, Christmas outfits, or special outfits for Hanukkah, Eid, or Diwali. We realize these traditions are not all celebrated at this time of year, but the students thought it would be fun to have a day for all of us to celebrate together. We will be having this day on Dec 14. In addition to wearing traditional outfits we will be gathering as a school to sing a variety of songs, including songs students are learning with Sra. Heath for the upcoming Celebrations Around the World Concert.

Fun Lunch - Dec 14

The deadline to order fun lunch or change an order is always the Saturday prior to the fun lunch date. So, for this month, the deadline to order is Saturday, December 9, 2023 at midnight. After this time, there is unfortunately no way to add/change an order.

Student Absent on Fun Lunch Days

If your child is absent from school on fun lunch day and you are planning to come pick up their fun lunch, please send an email to collingwood@cbe.ab.ca with instructions on pick up of the fun lunch. The instructions must be received prior to 10:30am on the day of the fun lunch. Fun lunches are distributed between 10:30am and 11:30am.

Any unclaimed lunch orders, due to absence of student, without directions received by 10:30am will be donated by the parent association to the staff room.

Pick up time for fun Lunches for absent students will be 11:45am - 12:00pm at the school. This will allow our parent volunteers time to find and set aside the fun lunch.
A parent association volunteer will assist you with the lunch collection during this pick up time.

For any allergy alerts or questions please contact fun lunch coordinator, Sara S. at funlunchcollingwood@gmail.com

Skate Shack

The Triwood Community Centre and arena staff have started flooding the outdoor rinks and are confident that we will be able to use the outdoor rinks for skating Dec. 18 - 22. However, in the event that it is too warm or too cold to use the outdoor rinks, we have created a new schedule for indoor skating schedule at the Triwood Arena. You can view the schedule by clicking on the sign-up links below. In making this schedule we tried to remain as close as possible to the outdoor schedule but that was not always possible. Whether you have signed up for outdoor skating or not, please sign up again for the indoor skating schedule. We will make the announcement about indoor vs outdoor skating as early as possible, at the very latest the day before. Because of this uncertainty about indoor vs outdoor skating, your child may be skating at a different time than indicated on the letter you received from the teacher. We have booked the Skate Shack which is a trailer filled with skates and helmets which students can use for this outdoor skating experience. Note that there is a slot first thing in the morning for shovelling. If it hasn’t snowed there will be no need to shovel the ice. An email will be sent out the evening before about the need for shovelling. If you have a wagon we could use to transport skates please communicate that with your child’s teacher. Please sign up on the sign-up genius below.
