Multicultural Day Dec 14

Sra. McCruden has been working with a Student Advisory Council to discuss student ideas of ways to improve our school. One idea the students came up with was a Multicultural Day. Our students celebrate many different traditions and this will be a day where they are invited to wear traditional outfits from their culture or heritage. This could be red for Chinese New Year, Santa hats, Christmas outfits, or special outfits for Hanukkah, Eid, or Diwali. We realize these traditions are not all celebrated at this time of year, but the students thought it would be fun to have a day for all of us to celebrate together. We will be having this day on Dec 14th. In addition to wearing traditional outfits we will be gathering as a school to sing a variety of songs, including songs students are learning with Sra. Heath for the upcoming Celebrations Around the World Concert.

Skate Shack

Dec. 18 – 22 all Collingwood students will participate in outdoor skating at Triwood Community Centre. We are concerned that the outdoor ice may not be ready in time and are currently confirming indoor arena times with Triwood Arena. If we need to use the indoor arena, the times will shift somewhat from the ones on the sign-up genius below. Once we have the indoor times confirmed we will send out a new sign up genius, in the event that we skate indoors. Thank you for your flexibility. We have booked the Skate Shack, which is a trailer filled with skates and helmets which students can use for this skating experience. Note that there is a slot first thing in the morning for shovelling. If it hasn’t snowed there will be no need to shovel the ice. An email will be sent out the evening before about the shovelling need. Please sign up on the sign-up genius below.
