Asian Heritage Month
May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions, experiences, and impact of individuals of Asian heritage in Canada and around the world. According to the 2021 Census, more than seven million people in Canada reported having Asian origins, or about 19.3 per cent of the population. This is a large and diverse group that has contributed to every aspect of life in Canada. The links below are valuable resources for information about Asian History Month and activities in Calgary.

The Asian Heritage Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the appreciation of Asian-Canadian participation in and contribution to Canadian society. AHF is the largest Pan-Asian Organization in Alberta and includes active involvement from over 25 Asian-Canadian community groups and over 200 volunteers in the development and delivery of its programs.
The foundation has compiled a number of resources and events school staff may access to strengthen their understanding of the contributions Asian-Canadians have made in Alberta and in Canada. More information can be found at the link below.

Volunteers Needed
Thank you to the many volunteers who came to stamp and tape books over the past few weeks. We are almost completed this major project. We welcome any parents who can come to school and continue to help us with this project this week. No volunteer clearance or sign up is required, just come by the school to help.
CBE Dates of Significance Calendar
In the spirit of building a culture of appreciation and inclusion, where students and staff can see themselves valued, respected and celebrated, the CBE has compiled a Dates of Significance Calendar. As we work to make Collingwood School more welcoming and inclusive, it is our hope that this calendar will help build awareness in our school community. https://www.cbe.ab.ca/registration/calendars/Pages/dates-of-significance.aspx
School Fees
There is a fee for all in-school and out of school field trips. These field trips are very popular and valuable learning experiences for students. Fees are uploaded to your MyCBE account throughout the school year. Please take a moment to log on to your MYCBE account to check if you have outstanding school fees. We need your support by paying these fees so that we may continue to offer these enrichment opportunities for students.
Beekeeper Visits
Every two weeks the beekeeper from Alveole will be coming by Collingwood to check on our beehive. Classes will invited to observe the hive during these visits and ask the beekeeper questions. Each visit will be documented on the Collingwood Beehive Blog.
Bike to School Day
On Thursday June 6, grade 1-5 students and their parents are invited to participate in our annual Bike to School Day. We will be riding from Confederation Park to the school in the morning with the option to also return to Confederation Park at the end of the school day. Further details to follow.
