Annual General Meeting for Collingwood School Council and Parent Association Oct 18

The AGM for our School Council will be held in the Learning Commons at 6:30 PM and also online at Click here to join the meeting . The Parent Association AGM will be held immediately following the School Council Meeting at 8:00PM. It will also be in person and online at the same link.

There are several open positions on both bodies and now is a great time to take an active role in these organizations and help support the school. Being a part of our School Council and the Parent Association is a great way to get to know families and be directly involved in various capacities at the school such as fundraising, social events, clubs, volunteering and so much more.

Family Movie Night, Thursday October 19 - Doors open at 6:00PM

Bring you dinner, chairs and blankets and enjoy a Family Movie Night at our School showing Hotel Transylvania 3. Be sure to be dressed up and ready for Halloween!

Student Absent on Fun Lunch Days

If your child is absent from school on fun lunch day and you are planning to come pick up their fun lunch, please send an email to collingwood@cbe.ab.ca with instructions on pick up of the fun lunch. The instructions must be received prior to 10:30am on the day of the fun lunch. Fun lunches are distributed between 10:30am and 11:30am.

Any unclaimed lunch orders, due to absence of student, without directions received by 10:30am will be donated by the parent association to the staff room.

Pick up time for fun Lunches for absent students will be 11:45am - 12:00pm at the school. This will allow our parent volunteers time to find and set aside the fun lunch.

A parent association volunteer will assist you with the lunch collection during this pick-up time.

All Families interested in ordering Fun Lunch will need to register/add your child with this year’s teacher at the start of each school year. This is applicable even if you have used Healthy Hunger in the past.

Halloween

Halloween is an important cultural activity for many of our children and families. Students are invited to wear their Halloween costume to school on October 31st. There will be a Halloween Parade on that day so students will be able to see one anothers’ costumes. Costumes with excessive gore or weapons are not allowed at school. Classes will also be organizing Halloween-themed learning activities with their buddy classes and grade teams. Please do not send food or treats to school on Halloween or on your childs’ birthday. Please contact your childs’ teacher if your child will not be participating in Halloween activities and requires an alternative learning plan at school for the day.

Traffic Safety

We ask that drivers and pedestrians follow traffic safety rules. This means respecting posted speed limits, using the crosswalk, not parking in the bus zone and refraining from doing u-turns in the school zone.

Drop Off Loop

The drop off loop is reserved for children who can exit the vehicle independently. Please do not exit the vehicle to help with car seats, backpacks, etc. If your child requires assistance please park South of the parking lot. Drivers in the right lane are asked to exit right and drivers in the left lane exit left. We also ask that pedestrians walk through the playground rather than in front of the drop off loop as this helps maintain a smooth flow of traffic through the loop. We also ask you to not park in the staff parking lot, thank you.
