Message from Principal – Eve Moreau
A reminder to families of students with Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) that finalized IPPs will be sent home on Friday, October 9. We ask parents/guardians to review the plan with care, sign it, and return the required signature to the school by Friday, October 16. Thank you for your continued partnership with teachers as we work together to support meaningful and achievable goals for every student.
Teachers have now completed the Alberta Education and Childcare Literacy and Numeracy Screening for students in Grades 1–5. These screeners provide teachers with information about students’ foundational literacy and numeracy skills and complement ongoing classroom observations and assessment. Results help teachers plan instruction and identify students who may benefit from additional support. Families will receive their child’s screening results within the next six weeks, providing an opportunity to understand their areas for growth and next steps in learning.
Throughout October, Escuela Collingwood will recognize Latin American Heritage Month, a federal initiative celebrating the cultures, histories and contributions of Latin American communities in Canada. Students will explore Social Studies and Spanish Language Arts curricular outcomes with teachers integrating the arts to deepen cultural understanding, celebrate Latin American contributions to Canadian society and encourage personal expression. Toward the end of the month, our school will transform into an art gallery, showcasing the collective learning and creative work of our students. More details to come!
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found was overflowing in September! We had to donate items that were not labelled. Our Lunch Supervisors work diligently to return all items to the students, but it is not possible without the items marked with the student names. Please take a moment to label your student’s personal items (backpacks, coats, shoes, lunch kits, water bottles, toques, mittens, etc.). Permanent markers work great.
All unclaimed Lost and Found items will be donated on the first school day of every month.

RECURRING MESSAGES
Bus Transportation Reminder
If an emergency arises and you need to change plans for your child riding the bus or being picked up at the end of the day, we request that parents call the school before 2:00 PM on Monday through Thursday and before 11:30 AM on Fridays. If your plans change after that time, please meet your child at the bus and notify the driver that you are taking your child with you. Often, we get last-minute calls, and we are unable to locate the child, or the bus is loaded and pulling away.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us ensure a safe and smooth dismissal for all students.

Traffic Safety
For the safety of all our students and families, we ask that everyone respect the law in the school zone, this means no jaywalking, not doing U-turns and respecting the speed limit.
