Dear Collingwood Families,

I hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of the Calgary summer. We look forward to seeing everyone at Collingwood next week. Grade 1-5 families will receive an email from your child's teacher around 3pm on Tuesday, August 27th with details about where to meet on the first day of school. The first day of school and bussing for grades 1-5 will be Thursday, August 29th at 8:00 am. Kindergarten students should have received an email last Spring with staggered entry details. The first day of regular kindergarten and bussing will be Tuesday, September 3rd.

Collingwood School has been a busy place this summer. Our new mural has been installed on the North Wall of the School facing Northmount Drive so be sure to check that out. A crew of workers has also been busy with the Phase 3 of the Naturalization Project Upgrade with a fence around the food forest, new trees and a prepared space for the revamped bike racks by the parking lot. A particular thank you to Collingwood parent, Sydney Kjellander for her work in spearheading this latest phase. Thank you also to Collingwood parent Rachelle Evans for watering the Collingwood gardens over the summer.

For students and families who bike to school please note that the racks by the parking lot have been removed and are being revamped to be re-installed in a few weeks. The bike racks South of the parking lot continue to be available.

We could use some help from a few families on Friday, August 23 between 9:00 - 11:00am to weeding and prune vegetation in a few areas around the school. Work gloves, weed whackers, tree trimmers and a chain saw would all be useful. The school has trowels and children's work gloves.

Enjoy the rest of the summer.

Hasta pronto.
