Principal's Message

Dear Collingwood Families,

The final countdown for the school year is on! These last two weeks have been designed with some highly memorable learning experiences, including a visit to Heritage Park, canoeing, and, tomorrow, our Grade 6 Farewell. We know that learning an additional language is an extra challenge for learners and want to celebrate our Grade 6s’ extensive commitment to becoming bilingual.

Looking ahead, is Sports Day (Wednesday), what I hear is one of Collingwood’s favourite community-building events of the year. This day will provide an opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate school spirit, and have some fun. A special thank you to our volunteers for supporting this day with a hot dog lunch for students.

I would also like to thank our school community for running our successful “Principal for a Day” fundraiser. Thanks to your enthusiasm and generosity, we had two winners! As a result, on Monday, we will be welcoming both a Principal (Gael Bruno, Grade 2) and Assistant Principal (Zian Kara, Grade 2).  We look forward to seeing the creativity, leadership, and excitement they bring to their special roles.

Over the past couple of weeks, the admin team has been engaged in an intensive hiring process. We are very pleased to announce that Esther Martinez, Cecilia Calderon Gracia, Ana Martinez and Ricardo Delgado will be on our Collingwood teaching team next year. Grade assignments will be finalized and posted on our website in August. We also want to celebrate that two of our staff, Verónica Gugliotta and Rosemary Hamilton, were the successful candidates for other positions within the CBE.  They have been pillars to the Spanish bilingual program at Collingwood and will be greatly missed.

We look forward to finishing the school year strong and celebrating many more special moments together.

Sincerely,
Eve Moreau, Principal
