Message from Principal – Eve Moreau
October has started out as a beautiful and busy month at school, filled with meaningful learning opportunities and moments to connect as a school community.
This Thursday, we launched a partnership with the Grade 9 Leadership Students at Senator Patrick Burns (SPB) School. SPB students led a number of activities with one of our Grade 1 classes to establish a bond for their upcoming Animación a la lectura project, an initiative to engage budding readers through the theatrical animation of books. A big thank you to Sra. Gabriela Salguero-Palacino from SPB for spearheading this community building project.
This week, our teachers engaged in two professional learning sessions with the support of our occupational therapist, physiotherapist, and leaders from McKenzie Lake School. To advance our School Development Plan's Well-being Goal of resiliency through regulation, we are implementing two school wide supports -the Focus Sequence and Motor Lab. Through these two initiatives, we are actively working to strengthen our ability to support student regulation through sensory and movement activities, helping all students thrive in their learning environments. We extend a heartfelt thank you to our Parent Association for their generous contribution to this school-wide initiative.
This Friday, Individual Program Plans (IPP) are being sent home for students with special education needs. Please take some time to review the document, sign the required signature pages, and return them to school by October 16.
A reminder that our School Council and Parent Association Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on October 14 at 6:00 p.m. Families are welcome to join online or in person and be part of the conversations and connections that help strengthen our school community.
As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, we wish all our families a happy and restful long weekend.

RECURRING MESSAGES
Bus Transportation Reminder
If an emergency arises and you need to change plans for your child riding the bus or being picked up at the end of the day, we request that parents call the school before 2:00 PM on Monday through Thursday and before 11:30 AM on Fridays. If your plans change after that time, please meet your child at the bus and notify the driver that you are taking your child with you. Often, we get last-minute calls, and we are unable to locate the child, or the bus is loaded and pulling away.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us ensure a safe and smooth dismissal for all students.
General busing information can be found on our website here.
Student Lost & Found
Please check our student lost and found regularly. All unclaimed items will be collected and donated on the first school day of every month.
Traffic Safety
For the safety of all our students and families, we ask that everyone respect the law in the school zone, this means no jaywalking, not doing U-turns and respecting the speed limit.
If families witness poor driver and pedestrian behavior, please complete a police service report: https://www.calgary.ca/cps/traffic/traffic-reporting.html
