Collingwood Weekly Update April 6 - 10, 2026
Message from Interim Principal – Rick Petrowitsch
For all the families that observe and celebrate Good Friday and Easter – Happy Easter. We hope everyone had a nice Spring Break, although the weather doesn’t feel like spring yet.
I would like to remind parents regarding the Personal Mobile Device policy. This policy was handed down by the Alberta Government a few years ago, and we must enforce and adhere to this policy. If a student has a cell phone, it must be powered off, not just silenced. Smart Watches cannot be connected to the internet or a cell phone. If a student violates this policy, they will first receive a warning. If the problem persists, they will have their device held in the office until a parent can pick up the device. I know this message has been redundant; however, the problems continue. A huge issue is when students are using a cell phone in a washroom, which can carry serious consequences.
At the end of the school day and after leaving the school, students may use their devices outside. In case of an emergency, a student may come to the office and ask to use their phone to call a parent. We do have phones and phone numbers in the office if needed.
With the weather turning nicer (well, maybe soon), we would like to remind students that they are not to use roller shoes in the school building. These items are considered the same as roller blades, roller skates, and skateboards.
I would like to encourage as many parents as possible to attend the Parent School Council meeting on Wednesday, April 8th, at 6:30 pm, either in person or online. We are very fortunate to have our local Trustee, Laura Hack, attend the meeting. A great opportunity for you to hear directly from your Trustee. The link and agenda are below in this update. We hope to have lots of parents attending.
